• To create an awareness of the potentialities of modern management science as a major instrument for development of the Tourism/Travel sector of service industries
• To develop managerial skills, organizational capabilities, leadership and decision making ability, tourism/travel development planning and implementation efficiency
• To carry on research-operational and policy, to evolve ideas and concepts appropriate to the field and to formulate policy alternatives
• To foster, assist and support individuals and institutions directly or indirectly for the use of management science for ensuring the healthy growth of the travel/tourism sector and allied fields
• To create general awareness among the people of all aspects of the travel/tourism and allied fields as a source of employment, national and international integration/understanding, development of backward areas etc. as well as the dangers of cultural shock etc. and how best to prevent or reduce such ill-effects if any

In order to achieve the above activities, the institute may engage itself in such kinds, types of programmes, activities and in such subject sand for the benefit of such persons, areas, sectors of activity as are exemplified here under

• Provide training in tourism and travel industry management and related subjects for persons from the tourism industry, institutions and bodies and associations connected with the tourism industry and for individuals in such a way as to equip them professionally in the vocation of tourism or in appropriate cases, to impart instructions in the field of tourism
• Undertake educational programmes and to organize courses of studies, lectures, seminars, symposia and conference etc. in the various aspects of tourism and travel industry management to meet the requirements of training personnel for the tourism industry
• Provide continuing educational opportunities and facilities for personnel in the different segments of the tourism industry for updating information and creating cadre of professionally trained management personnel at different levels
• Provide guidance and directions, if required to institutions affiliated to the institute in the field of tourism
• Conduct, promote and institute research in the field of tourism likely to be conducive in its promotion and development to provide research facilities by contractual agreements and to publish the results of the research conducted
• Plan, sponsor and undertake research to improve efficiency and productivity ant unit levels, both in Government, Private and Joint sector units connected with tourism/travel
• To provide advice/give suggestions in the promotion and development of tourism
• Establish an extensive library of books and other reference material on travel, tourism and allied subjects for the institute and documentation centre to collect interpret and disseminate tourist information
• Undertake and provide for the publication of suitable literature comprising journals, books, research papers, monographs that may be considered desirable in furtherance of the objectives of the institute
• Invite experts from India and abroad who are actively engaged in tourism training and research to deliver lectures and participate in the training and research activities of the institute. Provided, that in respect of arrangements with foreign Governments or international organisations prior approval of the State Government or the Government of India as the case may be, shall be obtained wherever necessary as per rules/ laws in force at that particular time in the country
• Establish corroborative linkages with educational professional and business institutions in any part of the world having similar objectives, by exchange of faculty and scholars, by the conduct of joint research and training programmes and generally in such a manner as may be conducive to the development of common professional objectives provided that in respect of arrangements with foreign Governments of international organisations prior approval of the state Government or the Government of India as the case may be shall be obtained wherever necessary as per rules and laws in force at that particular time in the country
• Do all things as may be necessary, incidental or conducive to the attainment of all or any of the objectives of the institute
• All incomes and assets of the Society shall be utilized towards the promotions of the aims and objectives
