Memorandum of Understanding with Digital University Kerala
The Kerala Institute of Tourism and Travel Studies (KITTS) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Digital University Kerala (DUK) on 24th October 2024, marking a major step toward introducing innovative, technology-integrated programmes in the tourism and hospitality sector. This strategic collaboration aligns with the Government of Kerala's mission to upgrade KITTS in line with global academic and industry standards. The partnership comes at a time when Kerala Tourism is increasingly adopting cutting-edge digital tools and is gearing up to establish a technology hub-cum-incubator dedicated to tourism startups.
The MoU aims to empower students, industry professionals, and government officials with future-ready skills to thrive in a rapidly evolving digital landscape. The new programmes will focus on critical technology domains including Artificial Intelligence (AI), Cyber Security, Data Analytics, Digital and Social Media Marketing, and Tourism Management Systems. By integrating technology with tourism education, KITTS and DUK seek to enhance the digital competencies of tourism stakeholders and improve competitiveness in a sector where digital platforms play a pivotal role - from destination discovery to booking and trip planning.
