Multi-skilling is an acquisition of additional task-related skills and knowledge of hospitality industry which enables an individual to perform a wider range of tasks and function within organizations. Employees who are multi-skilled in multiple departments can help manage staffing levels at different times of the day. The focus areas of the course include Front office, Housekeeping and F&B Service. Multi-skilling enables employers to manage shortage of trained staff and reduce labour costs and improve efficiency and increase operational flexibility. In Kerala there is severe dearth of trained multi-skilled staff who could find employment in the home stays, Hotels, Resorts, Serviced villas, etc.
