Dr. Venugopal C.K. has been an active academician since 1993 and obtained Ph.D. from Department of Futures Studies, University of Kerala for the work entitled 'Design of a GIS Platform for Tourism Administration with Special Reference to Kerala'. He worked in several rungs of the software industry with MNCs in positions like Programmer, Systems Analyst and Trainer. Dr. Venugopal C.K joined at KITTS in 1995. Has published a book entitled "Information Technology and Tourism" in 2010 and contributed articles to leading research journals. In addition to this his contribution to the literary world includes the recently published book containing a collection of english poems tilted "Lyrics of Silence". A versatile writer in both English and Malayalam, Dr. Vengopal has published several travelogues in leading travel magazines and websites including Mathrubhumi Yathra. In addition to this he has contributed several authentic research and general articles in reputed journals and magazines . Author of several short stories and poems in both English and Malayalam, his passion for writing opened up several avenues, both technical and literary. He is also the Associate Editor of Indian Journal of Tourism and Hospitality Management brought out by KITTS. In addition to this, he has attended several national and international conferences and secured a best paper award. Presently heads the IT department and is an expert in GIS with focus on Kerala Tourism. Holds a Master’s Degree in Computer Applications (MCA) from College of Engineering - CET, Thiruvananthapuram, Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) from IGNOU with specialization in Operations Management and M.Sc. in physics (with specialization in electronics) from University of Kerala. Has over 27 years of experience in teaching and is the senior most faculty in KITTS. In addition to teaching responsibilities in KITTS, other positions held by him include 1) Green Protocol Officer 2) PTA secretary 3) In charge, Physical education 4) Nodal Officer GeM 5) SPOC AICTE 6) Nodal Officer, NTA 7) Co-ordinator IATA courses. He is also actively involved in activities of Centre for Ecotourism, a joint initiative by Department of Tourism, Government of Kerala and KITTS. Has over 100 published works to credit and is a noted travel writer. He has co-ordinated several training programmes and headed many projects undertaken by KITTS on behalf of agencies including Department of Tourism. In addition to this he is an approved trainer in ABACUS and holds certificates in Business English communication (BEC), German Language, American Hotel and Lodging Association (AHLA), LINUX, GIS and related areas.
